The Maine Partnership to Improve Dementia Care
cordially invites you to the
Music & MemorySM Program Launch
Friday, September 8, 2017 8:30 am to 3:00 pm

The Maine Partnership to Improve Dementia Care has been awarded a second grant to launch the Music & Memory initiative that will enable an additional 20 nursing homes throughout the state to become Music & MemorySM Certified Care Facilities. The Music and Memory Foundation is a non-profit organization that brings personalized music into the lives of the elderly through digital music technology. The program trains nursing home staff and other elder care professionals how to create and provide personalized playlists using iPods and other digital audio systems that enable those struggling with Alzheimer’s, dementia and other cognitive and physical challenges to reconnect with the world through music-triggered memories.

The purpose of this event is to explain the initiative, the benefits and expectations, and to encourage facility sign up. It is best suited for those individuals in your home who will be responsible for facilitation. The Partnership is requesting that participating homes designate 2 co-leads on the project. Historically, this approach ensures the program is successful and sustainable in the event of staff changes.

Additionally, staff from homes that implemented Music and Memory with support from the first grant cycle are encouraged to attend.
